Dehydrated Skin and Dermatitis Herpetiformis (Itchy Skin)

Dehydrated skin
Dehydration means your skin is lacking moisture but not oil. Surface dehydration is a crippling enemy of the skin affecting up to 98% of the populations in varying degrees, and is associated with problems as diverse as scaly, taut skin, superficial lines & premature aging. In dehydrated skin, the skin becomes tight and irritated.

DERMATITIS HERPETIFORMIS

Dermatitis herpetiformis is a very itchy type of dermatitis associated with intestinal and immune consumption of dairy products or gluten. Dermatitis herpetiformis usually shows up in young adults, and is more common in men.

Dermatitis herpetiform looks like small clusters of red, itchy bumps. There are tiny water blisters, but these are quickly scratched off. Before they form, the area usually has a burning feeling. They scab and heal over one or two weeks, but new spots continue to appear. Dermatitis herpetiformis is a lifelong condition, but remission may occur in 10 to 20 percent.

CAUSES

Dermatitis herpetiformis usually begins in the twenties, though children may sometimes be affected. It is seen in both men and women. Though the cause of the rash is unknown, dermatitis herpetiformis is frequently associated with gluten (a protein found in cereals) sensitivity in the small bowel.

SYMPTOMS

The common symptoms of dermatitis herpetiformis are: -

  • Intense burning.
  • Stinging and itching around the elbows, knees, scalp, buttocks and back.
  • Symptoms of dermatitis herpetiformis tend to wax and wane.

  • To relieve itching and promote healing, mix goldenseal root powder with vitamin E oil, and then add a little honey until it has a consistency of paste. Apply this mixture to the affected area. This will helps to reduce itching and heal dermatitis herpetiformis.
  • Ultra potent topical steroids may helpful.
  • Massage tea oil antiseptic cream into the skin after contact with water or irritants.
